Is this the worst Yellow Dog story ever? (I mean that in a good way, of course.) And yet saved by a perfect and yet perhaps seldom-done transition: Yellow Dog > Alligator :-)

Like the night before, 5/24/69 is a fiery, out-on-the-ragged-edge kinda show in the Florida heat. I really like the Doin that Rag > Friend of Mine > China Cat > Eleven. There’s also a nutso drummer’s chant before a raging StSt that ultimately zaps off into some bug-frying feedback where everything just falls apart into a perfect puddle of inner-stellar nuttiness. And does anyone else think they sound like they’re about to crack up laughing during Bid You Goodnight?

Enjoy. It sounds like the band did.

I like this show a bit better than the day before. I think the Lovelight is a little better and I like the sequence starting with DTR, especially the transition from Friend to China.

As for the Yellow Dog story, i am not sure any are good, so at least this one is kind of entertaining listening as Bobby stumbles along.

I think you are correct, the boys had a lot of fun on the reservation. If you head there now you too can have fun...if you like gambling. There is a big Hard Rock Casino on the Seminole Reservation in Hollywood, FL these days.

Aw, they're all good. (The yellow dog stories.) In their own horrible way, of course. I have a yellow dog. I thought of naming her Gator. No one else felt it fit her personality, though. The only thing she tears up is sandals.

To me, they both have a very similar energy. The first night has such a nice happy rainbow of a DS; on the 2nd night, the set list is more varied. Going from Rag to Friend is neat, and then, as Elbow pointed out, there’s such a cool transition between Friend and China Cat. I really like when there are segues that point out the unexpected similarities between tunes you’d never imagine putting together. It’s like you can hear the idea happening: “Hey, all of a sudden I’m thinking of China Cat! How about it?” Of course I have no idea how much they really tended to plan, but that’s what it seems like.

and edit: yes!

I don't know about the worst, but this is surely one of the best. Pigpen keeps interrupting Bobby and steals the punchline!

Yellow Dog Pt. 1> Schoolgirl> Yellow Dog Pt. 2
